In modern times, mujila dance is labeled as "vulgar" and "cheap" because it is full of provocative and suggestive elements. Girls from upper class will not touch such dance. Only girls from lower class families will choose to be mujila dancers in a small theater because of their livelihood. Evelyn is one of them.

Averien was born in a poor family. From childhood to adulthood, her memory was hunger. Her mother was a housewife, and her father was the only labor force in the family. Later, her father suffered from brain cancer, and her family, who were already short of money, was completely knocked down by the huge cost of treatment. In a desperate situation, averien received a leaflet from the local theater to recruit mujila dancers. Averien, who loves dancing and is good at dancing, became a full-time mujila dancer in the theater. The news of her mujila dance soon spread in the family. The relatives, the eight children of her aunt's family and the cousins who grew up together were all angry about this. They began to stay away from the averien family and thought that averien had tarnished the family's reputation.

Mujira dancers are almost all on the edge of the city, and reports about them almost disappeared before they were publicly talked about“ But they live in the same city with us, and the number is not small. We can't pretend that we can't see them. " Kahan told southern weekend. So he set out to make a documentary about mujira dancers.

In the process of data collection, Kahan learned that these mujira dancers are struggling to survive in the cracks and are facing severe scrutiny from three departments: the regional coordination office, the family department and the Arts Committee. Before each performance, these departments will send special personnel to the scene to supervise. If the dancers wear skirts that are not high necked and have unusual dance movements, they will be punished by the local government, They will face the punishment of being banned or even expelled from the theater. Not only that, dancers who have no voice will be exploited by the theater and their wages will be deducted. A mujila dancer named Sarah recalled that once the theater took on a private party and asked several mujila dancers including her to dance at a rich man's birthday party. The rich man paid $750 for the customized performance, while the theater only gave Sarah $25.

Uzma, a friend of averien and one of the most popular mujira dancers in the theater, has her own tragic past. Uzma was born in a single parent family. Her mother raised five brothers and sisters by picking cotton. At the age of 13, uzma was reluctantly sold by her mother to others as a child's daughter-in-law. After giving birth to a baby girl soon, uzma was abandoned by her husband, and finally she was able to support herself by dancing mujila.

At the end of each performance, averien would constantly receive the harassment of strange phone calls. The harasser's tone was ambiguous and asked them to provide "door-to-door service". When she was flatly rejected, the other party would threaten to kill her. The most serious one was the bizarre death of mujira celebrity anjuman shezadi. The police found shezadi's body at home, her chest was screened, and the killer is still at large.

Soon after, because of "vulgar performance", averien was banned for several months. As a result, the family's only source of income was cut off, and finally they barely survived by bank loans.

"Pakistan's singing and dancing girl" came to an end with the banning of averien. Because a lot of material in the film involves mujira dancers, it took the post production team nearly two years to translate Urdu into English. In May 2021, the documentary was shown in major independent theaters and streaming media platforms in Europe, and its release date in Pakistan is unknown.

She took the same road as the girl she was against and handed her fate to others.
