事实证明，仇焱之的眼光的确没错。在2014年的香港苏富比拍卖现场上，这只以1.6亿元的价格起拍的鸡缸杯，最终以2.8亿元的天价成交。目前现存的成化鸡缸杯据统计共有十四件，仇焱之就拥有其中四只，这只拍出天价鸡缸杯也只是其中之一。这次捡漏也成为了收藏家们家喻户晓的传奇故事。

由于瓷器收藏的质量极高，仇焱之成为了世界四大收藏家之中唯一的亚洲人。他还和裕利兄弟（斯蒂芬和吉尔伯特）一起成立了一家以瓷器收藏著称的西方私人收藏机构——玫茵堂。玫茵堂收藏的瓷器每次在拍卖场上出现，都会拍出高价，只因为这里收藏的瓷器不但做工异常精美，极具序列感，在西方人收藏的瓷器收藏中十分罕见。

虽然他早已加入瑞士国籍，还与外国人一起成立了收藏机构，但他一直秉承着自己是中国人。在国外期间，他曾见到很多八国联军劫掠的中国艺术品被收藏者们粗暴对待，但以他的财力无法全部收购。为此他撰写了大量介绍中国艺术品的书籍，并在欧美的博物馆、基金会和收藏团队间不断游说，只为让这些艺术品得到更好的对待。仇焱之的捡漏经历的确十分精彩，但他的爱国之心更值得敬畏。
