1968年3月23日出生于安徽省淮南市一个普通干部家庭，父亲是中学高级教师，母亲由舞蹈教师转任区文化局局长。

2020年，周涛担任总导演 中国文联百花迎春2020春晚精彩纷呈”；9月3日，在世界文联艺术家排行榜《每日一星》评选活动中荣获第一名。
