2月26日，文化和旅游部部长胡和平会见新任英国驻华大使吴若兰，双方就进一步深化两国文化和旅游交流合作交换意见。

On February 26, Minister of culture and tourism Hu Heping met with the new British ambassador to China Wu Ruolan. The two sides exchanged views on further deepening cultural and tourism exchanges and cooperation between the two countries.

胡和平表示，中英两国作为东、西方文化有代表性的国家,加强文化和旅游交流与合作不仅有利于中英两国,也有利于世界。近年来，双方文化交流日益活跃，合作领域不断拓展，为增进两国人民之间的相互了解和友谊发挥了积极作用。去年10月召开的中共十九届五中全会对中国“十四五”时期经济社会发展作出了系统谋划和战略部署，会议提出要实行高水平对外开放、开拓合作共赢新局面，要加强对外文化交流和多层次文明对话，构建人类命运共同体。文化和旅游部将立足新发展阶段，贯彻新发展理念，构建新发展格局，高质量开展对外文化和旅游交流合作，推动中英友谊再续新篇章。

Hu Heping said that China and Britain, as representative countries of eastern and Western cultures, strengthening cultural and tourism exchanges and cooperation is not only beneficial to China and Britain, but also beneficial to the world. In recent years, the cultural exchanges between the two sides have become increasingly active and the fields of cooperation have been expanding, which has played a positive role in enhancing mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples. The Fifth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee held in October last year made a systematic plan and strategic deployment for China's economic and social development during the 14th Five Year Plan period. The meeting proposed to implement a high level of opening up, open up a new situation of win-win cooperation, strengthen cultural exchanges with foreign countries and multi-level dialogue among civilizations, and build a community of shared destiny for mankind. Based on the new development stage, the Ministry of culture and tourism will implement the new development concept, build a new development pattern, carry out high-quality cultural and tourism exchanges and cooperation with foreign countries, and promote a new chapter of Sino British friendship.

吴若兰表示，新冠肺炎疫情使世界各国面临经济复苏的严峻考验，在此背景下，文化交流比以往任何时候都更加重要。英中两国都有丰富的文化和旅游资源，文化关系是英中关系最重要的支柱之一。英方愿同中方持续深化在文化和创意产业、文化遗产以及旅游等方面的互利合作，为两国关系健康发展发挥积极作用。

Wu Ruolan said that the novel coronavirus pneumonia has brought severe challenges to the world's economic recovery. In this context, cultural exchanges are more important than ever before. Both Britain and China are rich in cultural and tourism resources, and cultural relations are one of the most important pillars of the relationship. The British side is willing to continue to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation with China in cultural and creative industries, cultural heritage and tourism, so as to play a positive role in the healthy development of bilateral relations.
