想当初她被产前遗传诊断是镶嵌型染色体异常时，她的父母四处求助，某遗传权威医生建议她的父母把她拿掉，某大学医学中心的小儿科教授也对她的父母在咨询的时候非常地冷淡，当下令她的父母万念俱灰，经过辗转，她的父母来到马偕纪念医院咨询。陈持平又说：「好在有我及我的马偕同仁及时出力救援，苦劝她的父母把她留在人间，于是她顺利出生，拥有人生。她的父母后来又帮助我去说服另外一对父母留下跟她一样情况的胎儿。结果非常成功，以喜剧收场，皆大欢喜。现在台湾出生人口越来越少，但是产前遗传诊断越来越进步，有很多像她这样子的胎儿，会因为产前遗传诊断而被误杀，我的使命就是要拯救这些胎儿，让他们也有权利来到人间和我们一样的生活。我正在成立一个「拯救胎儿基金会」，请大家帮助我完成我的心愿」。陈持平将来会用陈持平「不存在的艺术」，出钱出力，来拯救全世界更多「不存在的胎儿」。
