在2005年圣诞节前夕郑先生在一家幽静的茶社接待了我的访问。郑先生高个、简朴、略瘦比他在文集上配发的照片显得有点老些。来时没带眼镜更加让人感到了他那目光里的真诚，深邃，亲切和慈祥。

郑九蝉先生1949年生于宁溪上郑村。1969年到黑龙江省绥滨县插队，1977年上佳木斯师范专科学校。1984年回台州黄岩任文联主席1985年上鲁迅文学院作家班。以后在台州的报社，宣传部等地任职。

由于他下乡到黑龙江又在佳木斯上过学，我的心中便不由的升出一种亲近的感觉。因为我就是黑龙江佳木斯人。这次我就是以第二故乡人的身份访问他的。落座后他从带来的拎兜里拿出一大摞子他刚刚出版的《郑九蝉文集》送给我这东北老乡留作纪念，并在第一卷上认真地签上了“郝连成先生阅 郑九蝉” ，让我的心里很是感动。我大致的看了一下有12卷之多。是他这么多年的力作结晶。目前他正在用尽全力创作他的第八部长篇小说《皇帝饭庄》。

On the first volume, he carefully signed "Mr. Hao Liancheng read Zheng jiuchan", which moved me a lot. I have a general look. There are as many as 12 volumes. It's the result of his years of hard work. At present, he is trying his best to create his eighth novel, the emperor's restaurant.

当他知道我也是个文学爱好者时我们的谈话一下子就有了共同的话题。他告诉我想搞文学要沉下去，要耐得住寂寞，当年他在鲁迅文学院学习时院长李清泉告戒他：想搞真正的文学要经得住权力和女色的诱惑。要把自已所有的的精力如聚光镜一样集中在一个点上。当年老作家丁玲也对他们不少同学强调过：当作家要先下地狱然后上天堂，再下地狱，再上天堂。

At that time, Ding Ling, an old writer, also stressed to many of their classmates that he should go to hell first, then to heaven, then to hell, and then to heaven.

他解释说下地狱就是要经受痛苦生活的磨炼，不断磨炼自已的意志，不断使自已的灵魂升华。现在尽管在经济大潮冲击之下到处充满着诱惑，但他心如磐石，坚持创作，他说他的生命早已和创作融和到一起了，一日不可无此君。

He told me that before 1984, he often received rejection letters from the editorial department. 郑先生虽然早就成了全国有名的作家可依然勤奋好学，他现在每年还订了两千多元的报刊。他告诉我每天读一些书不管读什么都是知识积累时间一长，在不知不觉间就会有一种书卷气。

Although Mr. Zheng has long been a well-known writer in China, he is still diligent and eager to learn. He now subscribes to more than 2000 newspapers and periodicals every year. He told me to read some books every day, no matter what you read, you will accumulate knowledge. As time goes on, you will unconsciously have a kind of scholarly atmosphere.

他看出我是从心里喜欢文学就让我每天写二千字，不管写什么到时总有回报。到时你就能感受到那种写作的乐趣了。
