　　最新曝光的导演特辑中，许诚毅强调《捉妖记2》不仅是第一部的延续，而是加入了众多新妖角色和新的场景，这些新妖形态各异、性格讨喜，而第一部中未出现的妖界也将露出真容。第二部实现了剧情和场景上的全面升级，胡巴的冒险之旅更加惹人期待。动画出身的许诚毅导演全程参与妖的特效制作，被剧组调侃称为“妖王”。聊到妖的制作，许诚毅导演也常常“吐槽”称同样的动作演员们几秒钟就能完成，动画人物却需要一个星期才能做出来，“妖的特效最难的就是让他们像人一样表演”。
