The British International Development Minister resigned less than 1 minutes late
Headline: a British minister resigned for less than 1 minutes late...
[World Wide Web reporter Zhu Mengying] "apologizing for people who are late is usually enough, but for a British minister, it's too late to apologize." Washington Post joked.
In January 31st, the British Secretary for international development, Michael Betts, resigned in front of all the members of the house of Lords. Why blame? It was late... Less than 1 minutes... And when he resigned and left the parliament, the opposition, the Labour Party, stood out to save him.
The Washington Post reported that Bates, the British Minister of international development, missed the question of Labor Party member Ruth Lister when he attended the MP Parliament for less than 1 minutes, so he chose to resign. Bates said before many parliamentarians: "I want to express my sincere apologies to Mrs. Lister (Baroness) for my rudeness. I can't answer her very important questions at the beginning of the meeting.
Bates continued: "I always believe that we should follow the highest standards of politeness and respect on behalf of the government in response to legislative issues."
So Bates announced his resignation and turned away from the house of Lords... "I feel very ashamed," he said.
It was too "exciting" for his colleagues to change from apology to resignation in a few seconds.
"No!" The house of Lords made such a cry. Some people laughed suspiciously, and others tried to stretch Bezla back. Even a congressman left Bates on the spot: "his apology is enough. No one of us can make a mistake. It's just a little disrespectful. "
Mrs. Lister, who was missed by Bates, also told the British Guardian: "he is the last of all the ministers I want them to resign."
A few hours later, Downing street ten issued a statement praising Bates's sincerity and said Bates would stay to continue to work.
