牛卓于1992年放弃中国高等院校优越事业单位的"铁饭碗"和必分住房，毅然"正式下海"，而非"半下海"(停薪留职★，由于在大学期间已具备大学三四年建筑英语教学能力，英语阅读上已达到能看英文报刊杂志等能力，因绝大多数理工科学生普遍英语不好，能达到阅读外国建筑专业资料水平的这种复合型人才非常稀缺，我在加拿大宾博房地产公司工作时充分发挥了这种英语十建筑设计规划这种特长，当时办公地点设在全球顶级五星级喜来登大酒店，引进了首次进入中国的加拿大木制别墅区项目，这定位也非常高端，主要面向摩托罗拉/可口可乐等外企总经理/董事长等，当时外资房地产项目须经所在市规划局审批才能正式启动勘察设计施工等，但规划局还没有相应的审批规范，引进的太早了。我们同时也进行着，加方经理所带来的全是英语加拿大木制别墅建筑规划资料，这对我来说非常适合，先翻译资料，同时担任该项目的首席代表，筛选优质勘察设计院/建筑设计院/施工单位等。加拿大木制别墅虽然是木制的，但其防火处理的很好，用特殊的防火涂料，同时也海运来了其它相关的配套材料，我们也增加了对加拿大建筑设计艺术理念的认识，譬如小小的铁钉我们就应该好好的借鉴学习，越往木头地钉，该钉逐渐张开其回刺，使两块木板不易分离，使别墅遇上狂风不易散架。

海南印象，曾两次前往。第一次以看房团形式，从北京房交会登记报名，然后到达海口会展中心再参加海南房交会，第一天人们比较集中在海口，第二天以每人根据自已喜欢的城市再去看一些房地产项目。我们首先去了琼海市，这里有万泉河(小时候听过歌颂该河的歌曲)，亚洲博鳘论坛(创始人为中国加入WTO首席谈判代表龙永图)。人们主要看万泉河畔的项目。第三天又去三亚市区/南山(也非常闻名)看房，感到三亚比威海还新，海边有许多宾馆酒店。然后大家都回到海口市返京。第二次去主要是以旅游为主，五指山/猴岛/天崖海角等，比较全方位地了解了中国唯一热带岛的风土人情，水果种类非常多叫不上名字。进入五指山感到非常原生态溪水泉涌，高大香蕉椰树等许多热带植物。乘坐缆车到达猴岛，猴群很多散养没有护栏，大小猴都很干净。到了琼海乘游轮观看博鳖论坛会址等。感觉到了另一种区别于北方的田园世界，其热带风情建筑艺术风格也颇有收获。后来国家将海南岛提升了国际旅游岛享受免税等优惠政策。

北京798艺术区印象。当代风格的画种较多，年轻人较喜欢，我也常去参观增加绘画灵感，因我是学习建筑设计专业的，所以我将当代艺术与传统国画尽量有机融合，使作品更适合现代人的审美观。798艺术区由旧工厂房改建而成，很多画廊经过装饰设计而成为不同风格的艺术空间，也经常看到外国人来此参观，也有一些餐厅咖啡店等，室外也有演艺弹唱节目等，也经常有画展开幕式等。
