他年轻的时候，曾经和寇准一起在破窑读书，体会了人间冷暖，后来，做了宰相，更体会到人世宠辱。所以写了《窑赋》。

文章盖世，孔子厄于陈菜；武略超群，姜公钓于渭水。

颜渊命短，原非凶恶之徒；盗跖延年，岂是善良之辈？ 尧舜圣明，却生不肖之子；瞽gǔ鲧gǔn愚顽，反有大孝之男。

蛟龙无雨，潜身鱼鳖之中；君子失时，拱手小人之下。

Without rain, dragons dive into fish and turtles; When a gentleman loses his time, he bows his hand to a villain.

衣敝缊yùn袍，常存礼仪之容；面带忧愁，每抱怀安之量。 时遭不遇，只宜安贫守份；心若不欺，必然扬眉吐气。

Clothes and robes always have the appearance of etiquette; With a sad face, every embrace is safe. When you are not met, you should only live in poverty and keep your share; If the heart does not deceive, it will be proud.

初贫君子，已成天然骨格；乍富小人，不脱贫寒肌体。 有先贫而后富，有老壮而少衰。 天不得时，日月无光；地不得时，草木不生；水不得时，风浪不平；人不得时，利运不通。注福注禄，命里已安排定，富贵谁不欲？人若不依根基八字，岂能为卿为相？ 昔居洛阳，日乞僧食，夜宿寒窑。思衣则不能遮其体，思食则不能饱其饥。夏日求瓜，失足矮墙之下；冬日取暖，废襟炉火之中。上人憎，下人厌，人道吾贱也。非吾贱也，此乃时也，运也，命也。 今在朝堂，官至极品，位居三公。鞠躬一人之下，列职万人之上。拥挞百僚之杖，握斩鄙吝之剑。思衣则有绫罗绸缎，思食则有山珍海味。出则有虎将相随，入则有佳人临侧。上人趋，下人羡，人道吾贵也。非吾贵也，此乃时也，运也，命也。 嗟呼！人生在世，富贵不可尽恃，贫贱不可尽欺。听由天地循环，周而复始焉。

I used to live in Luoyang, begging monks for food every day and sleeping in the cold kiln at night. Thinking of clothes cannot cover their bodies, and thinking of food cannot satisfy their hunger. Summer melon, fall under the low wall; Winter heating, waste Lapel in the fire. The superior hates, the inferior hates, and humanity is cheap to me. Not my cheap, this is the time, luck and life. Now in the court hall, the official is the best, ranking the third public. Bow below one person and rank above ten thousand. Hold the staff that casts all bureaucrats and the sword that cuts stinginess. Thinking of clothes has silk and satin, and thinking of food has delicacies. When you go out, a tiger will accompany you, and when you enter, a beauty will face you. The superior tends, the inferior envies, and humanity is also precious to me. It's not my honor. It's time, luck and life. Ho ho! In life, you can't rely on wealth, and you can't bully poverty. Listen to the cycle of heaven and earth.
