Data from the Spanish meteorological department reported that Montoro, located in the southern province of Cordoba, recorded a temperature of 47.2 degrees Celsius at 5:10 p.m. that day. If verified, it will set a new record for the highest temperature in Spain. The currently confirmed record of the highest temperature in the country was recorded near Montoro in July 2017, which was 46.9 degrees Celsius.

Due to the hot weather and the hot sales of local ice cream, many restaurants have opened devices that can spray water mist to cool customers.

He said that the night temperature in most parts of Spain is still higher than 25 degrees Celsius, which is particularly unfavorable to people without air conditioning at home.

The current record is 48 degrees Celsius recorded in Athens, Greece, in the summer of 1977. In Rome, Florence and Bologna in central and northern Italy, the temperature reached 37 degrees Celsius. The Italian Ministry of health therefore issued a red high temperature warning to 16 cities, including the three places, to remind the local elderly and weak people to pay attention to heatstroke prevention and cooling.
