1977年4月2日生于德国，却在北爱尔兰长大。父亲约瑟夫是德国人，母亲阿黛尔是爱尔兰人，是爱尔兰革命中的英雄人物迈克尔·柯林斯的后人。在法斯宾德两岁时，举家迁往北爱尔兰基拉尼定居，开了一家法国餐厅，父亲当大厨，母亲则负责经营。

Born in Germany on April 2, 1977, he grew up in Northern Ireland. Joseph's father was German, and her mother Adele was an Irishman. He was the descendant of Michael Collins, a hero in the Irish revolution. When he was two years old in faspinder, the family moved to Killarney, Northern Ireland, and opened a French restaurant. His father worked as a chef and his mother ran the business.

迈克尔从小信奉天主教，做过祭台助手。年少时就读于St. Brendan’s Killarney（The Sem）中学和伦敦中央戏剧学校（Drama Centre London），随后朝演艺圈迈进。

Michael had been a Catholic since childhood and had been an altar assistant. As a teenager, he studied at St. Brendan's Killarney (the SEM) high school and the Drama Centre London, then moved on to the performing arts world.

第一部是《300勇士》，为了扮演斯巴达勇士，他每天4小时，一周5天，在健身房里花了10个星期打造腹肌和胸肌，以至于后来很多人都以为那是后期的电脑特效。

第二部是《饥饿》，影片讲述的是真实的故事。为了演好绝食66天而死的“皮包骨”桑兹，法斯宾德在两个半月内把自己关在了洛杉矶海边的公寓里，早上吃些黑莓和坚果，白天练瑜伽和跑步，晚上则只吃罐头沙丁鱼，把每天的热量摄入控制在900卡路里。极端节食带来的竟然是一夜夜的失眠和亢奋。三十多斤的脂肪被他甩掉，体重降到了59公斤，那是营养医师给他划定的警戒线，在减重计划的最后阶段，他甚至切断了包括父母和女友在内的一切亲友的联系。

In the final stage of the weight-loss plan, he even cut off all his relatives and friends, including his parents and girlfriend.

2015年1月，迈克尔·法斯宾德主演的《乔布斯》，由阿伦-索尔金撰写剧本，影片将取材于沃特-艾萨克森撰写的乔布斯生前唯一授权的传记，在旧金山开机。科幻片导演雷德利·斯科特在采访中透露，《普罗米修斯2》将于2016年1月正式开机，“大卫”迈克尔·法斯宾德将回归续集，而影片的上映日期也是一推再推，从2016年春天推迟到了2017年。

In January 2015, Steve Jobs, starring Michael faspin, was written by Allen Sorkin. The film will be based on the only authorized biography of Steve Jobs written by Walter Isaacson and will be launched in San Francisco. The release date of "Michael Bentley" in "spring 2016" has been postponed to another year from 2016.
