1955年6月9日，郭达出生在西安，一座拥有秦始皇陵、兵马俑、大雁塔、小雁塔、唐长安城大明宫遗址、汉长安城未央宫遗址、兴教寺塔；另有西安城墙、钟鼓楼、华清池、终南山、大唐芙蓉园、陕西历史博物馆、碑林等景点的千年古城。

Guo Da was born in Xi'an on June 9, 1955. It is a thousand year old ancient city with Qin Shihuang mausoleum, terra cotta warriors, big wild goose pagoda, small wild goose pagoda, Daming Palace site of Chang'an City in Tang Dynasty, Weiyang Palace site in Chang'an city of Han Dynasty, Xingjiao temple tower, as well as Xi'an city wall, bell and Drum Tower, Huaqing pool, Zhongnan mountain, Tang Furong garden, Shaanxi History Museum, stele forest and other scenic spots.

1974年，郭达考入上海戏剧学院，接受了3年专业的话剧表演训练，毕业后分配进了陕西省话剧院。在省话10年，他排演了30台话剧，获得了陕西省以及西北地区的表演奖。

1987年，在第五届春晚上郭达搭档杨蕾、高兰村、邹小茜演绎了小品《产房门前》。1988年，在第六届春晚上与杨蕾、石富宽合作表演小品《清官难断家务事》。1993年，在春晚中搭档蔡明出演小品《黄土坡》。
