New research in Britain says it is recommended for children to use used plastic toys carefully.

New research in Britain says it is recommended for children to use used plastic toys carefully.

New research in Britain has found that second-hand plastic toys may carry toxic substances or are not in line with current toy safety standards, threatening children's health.

Plymouth University researchers extract 200 second-hand plastic toys from southwest England nurseries, schools, secondhand shops and ordinary families, such as toy cars, trains, cards, puzzles and so on. These toys are not so large that babies may put them in their mouths. The researchers used X- - ray fluorescence analysis to determine whether they contain 9 toxic substances, such as antimony, lead, cadmium, chromium and bromine.

The results showed that all 20 toys contained all 9 kinds of toxic substances, of which half of bromine, lead and cadmium exceeded the limit of toy safety stipulated by the current European Council. This means that if a child is exposed to these toys for a long time, it may be chronic poisoning; once the toy is placed in the mouth, the risk is greater. In addition, red, yellow and black plastic toys are most likely to detect excessive toxic substances, while some of the older toys do not conform to the current toy safety standards.

Dr. Andrew Turner led the study published an article in the "environmental science and technology" issue, this is the first British survey system of second-hand plastic toys containing toxic substances. He reminded, whether with friends or flea market Amoy, second-hand toys is very attractive to many families in the economy, but people should understand their potential threat to the health of children.
