新闻发布会上，龙港区委副书记、区长王连民强调，龙港区将以“全心全意为人民服务”为根本宗旨，以“人民群众对美好生活的向往”为奋斗目标，以“全面高标准建设小康社会”为核心任务，全力打造“创新、开放、富庶、智慧、绿色、文明”新龙港。

当谈到如何普及围棋发展时，王连民表示，龙港区发展的五大发展战略之一就是“文化惠区”，在这样的战略指导下，龙港已经制定了发展围棋运动、争创围棋之乡目标和方向。随后，王连民强调，龙港区将继续大力推广和普及青少年围棋运动，在各个街道社区开设围棋课堂，让全区群众有更多的机会接触围棋、喜爱围棋。

据悉，目前龙港区的围棋爱好者达到两万人，围棋培训机构超过十个，很多学校、幼儿园都长期开设围棋特长课，对于人口只有二十五万龙岗区来说，围棋氛围和普及基础是非常好的。未来，龙港还将更多的举办、承办各项围棋赛事和对外交流活动，给围棋爱好者提供更广阔的平台，更高的眼界，不断提高龙港区的围棋整体水平。
