就说生活吧，上年纪的人爱吃一些清淡、易消化的东西，象稀饭、糊涂面条、青菜、豆腐之类，而年轻人则爱吃一些辛辣、刺激、方便食品，象汉堡、辣条、麻辣烫、火锅等。就本人说吧，总爱吃一些干菜，象芝麻叶、干油菜、小白菜之类，我家一年四季必备，特别对芝麻叶豆面条更是宠爱有加，但儿女们则深恶痛绝，就这样的待遇，也只有等儿女们不在家时，我们老俩口才能“改善”一下生活。因此，时下大部分老年人为了方便生活，甘愿和儿女们分开过，这也成了一个潮流。

My family has to eat them all the year round, especially the sesame leaf and bean noodles. But the children hate it very much. Only when the children are not at home can we "improve" our lives. Therefore, most of the elderly people are willing to separate from their children for the convenience of life, which has become a trend.

再说工作，我们年轻时只要有一个稳定的工作，安全退休，就心满意足了，而年轻人则把跳槽当作时尚，另外工作态度也有很大差异。

最让人大跌眼镜的莫过于信仰观念。我们这代人年轻时崇拜的人和事，也与年轻人格格不入反差极大。有一次和几个80后谈起愚公移山精神，我们大谈愚公持之以恒，吃苦耐劳的高贵品质，现代人应向老愚公学习，学习他携妻带子挖山不止。但立刻遭到年轻人的驳持，说：“愚公精神最不可取，是愚昧的象征，既然住在大山里出入不便，搬出大山不就完了吗？何必困死在深山呢？既贫穷又愚昧，学他干吗？”唉，想一想也是用几代人挖山修路也太不划算了。

" Well, it's not cost-effective to use generations of people to dig mountains and build roads.

说到艰苦朴素，年轻人更是不屑一顾，说“时代发展了人类进步了，该享受就得享受，总不能放着空调不用，砍柴烤火吧，放着沙发不坐去坐冷板凳吗？既然有山珍海味何必吃糠咽菜呢？你们愿忆苦我们不反对，但我们思甜也不要干涉”——无语。

人啊，就是这样，思想观念都在随着社会的变革而改变，代沟怎么抹平？这是必须值得深思的。中国是礼仪之帮，对于传统的东西不能一概而论，有精华也有糟粕，老年人要老有所学，不断地更新观念，追上时代的步伐，年轻人要把传统的东西与新生事物结合起来，发扬光大。
