网络小说IP的改编领域，已经从单纯的影视剧扩展到动画片。《万古仙穹》系列动画片已更新至第二季，并将于3月15日起每周四在爱奇艺独家播出，爱奇艺VIP会员可以抢先看最新剧情。

《万古仙穹》改编自中文在线同名连载小说，原著是17k小说网上点击率最高的小说作品。《万古仙穹》动画第二季由爱奇艺作为动画出品方，ASK Studio担任动画制作，北斗企鹅工作室担任配音团队。作为一部青年向动画，《万古仙穹》在题材拓展上颇具创新意识，从戏曲和围棋切入，引入戏曲唱腔及变脸等传统元素，向年轻群体展示传统文化的魅力。在国家一级京剧演员刘魁魁指导下，主角配音演员郭盛反复雕琢每一句戏曲唱腔配音，力求向观众传达最原汁原味的戏曲精髓。

原著作者观棋表示，自己在创作《万古仙穹》的时候就已经有了初步的影视化思路，这次动画改编让他看到了原著中更多没有拓展的剧情。演员吴奇隆透露，他也是该系列动画的忠实粉丝，还根据动画剧情创作了一首《花雨夜》发布在自己2017年的新专辑中。他也非常期待未来《万古仙穹》改编成影视剧，自己也愿意参与制作。
